Berlin blames Russia for repeated cyber attacks targeting the Signal platform.
Through it, German politicians, diplomats, military personnel and journalists are suspected to have been targeted by cyber attacks since February, through a phishing strategy.
As reported by German government circles, the federal government estimates that the electronic “phishing” operation against the specific messaging service was organized, with a high probability, by the Russian state or state-related entities.
It is reported that at least 300 dignitaries in various fields in the country have been ‘victims’ of this attack, among them the president of the Bundestag, Julia Kloeckner, while there are doubts that Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s phone may have been hacked.
