The Together for Peru (JP) bench, through deputy Jesús Pérez Alccahuaman, proposed a new legislative proposal to extend the validity of the Comprehensive Mining Formalization Registry (Reinfo) until December 31, 2030; that is, for four more years, before the expiration of the last extension at the end of this year.
The proposal was presented last Friday. Two days before, the representative of the same group, Analí Márquez, had proposed an initiative to expand the formalization process until December 2028.
Although each one has its own nuances, the background is the same. Both are presented while the Energy and Mines Commission of the Lower House, chaired by JP, has not yet defined the new Small Mining and Artisanal Mining Law (Mape Law).
In the case of Pérez Alccahuaman’s proposal, it is proposed to extend the validity of the formalization process until 2030 or until the entry into force of the new Mape Law, whichever occurs first, as indicated.
And that, during that period, the Ministry of Energy and Mines will simplify administrative procedures and carry out a “purification” of the Reinfo of those who “fail to comply with the conditions of permanence or incur causes of expiration”, among other measures.
Pérez Alccahuaman, currently a member of the Deputies’ Energy and Mines commission, was a leader of a mining federation before taking office. In addition, his brother has a registration in the Reinfo in Apurímac, as reported by this newspaper.
