ASTANA, 24 April (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to share its expertise in nuclear energy with Kazakhstan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Kazakhstan Aleksei Bogdanov told BelTA.
As Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted at the Regional Ecological Summit in Astana, the country is currently modernizing coal-fired power plants using “clean coal” technologies and is developing a project to build its first nuclear power plant.
Belarus has experience in constructing such a facility in the modern age by leveraging advanced technologies that meet industrial and environmental safety requirements. “Kazakhstan seeks to join the family of countries that have nuclear energy. Belarus is already in the pool of such states, and we actively offer our experience of construction and operation of a nuclear power plant,” Aleksei Bogdanov emphasized.
Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant is planned to be built by Rosatom, a company with which Belarus has experience of cooperation. “We have successfully completed this journey, gained a number of competencies, and have relevant certified production facilities. Apart from that, universities in our country train specialists who will be able to work in the field of nuclear energy. We are ready to share our practices with the Kazakh side and are having a dialogue in this field,” Aleksei Bogdanov summarized.
