An Algerian international player was described as “the new Mahrez,” and the deal to benefit from his services was a “masterstroke.”
This player was brought in for a very small financial value in January 2024, estimated at only 300 thousand euros. Last summer, the management of his new club refused to sell him for 15 million euros, and considered the amount not commensurate with his high technical abilities.
The matter here concerns the striker Fares Ghejmis (24 years old), who was active in the French third division as a Rouen club, before moving to the Frosinone team from the Italian second division (he recently rose to the elite fold).

The description of “a masterstroke” came from Guido Angeluzzi, who was president of the Frosinone club when Gigis was appointed in early 2024. As for the Italian “Tutto Mercato” website, in its latest report, it described the same player as “the new Mahrez.”
According to the source, one of the clubs (whose name was not mentioned) proposed an amount of 15 million euros to assign Gegmis in the last summer transfer market, but Frosinone team officials rejected this offer and estimated that it was low.
Recently, it was echoed in the Italian football scene that the French teams Monaco, Turkish Besiktas, and Glasgow, along with Scottish club Celtic, were keen to benefit from the services of Fares Gegemis.
