MEP Thijs Reuten has reacted after the declared defeat of Aleksandar Vučić in the parliamentary elections in Serbia, criticizing the European Union’s approach to the Serbian president.
Reuten has said that most of the EU member states, together with the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, have continued the policy of tolerating Vucic.
“A majority of member states and the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, adhered to the policy of tolerating the autocrat Vucic. A large majority of the European Parliament has been calling for an end to this policy for years and supported those who demanded transparency, justice and change”, wrote Reuten.
