The lawyers of Granata, Mazzeo, Moretti, Buriani, Grandoni and Mularoni dispute the reconstruction of the accusation
“Absence of concrete evidence on the alleged criminal agreement and a castle built with the overlapping of files and with archived or acquitted disputes that come back”
The defenses also raise doubts about the compensation requests of the civil parties, duplication of questions and unproven claims in the face of “wrist-shaking” requests
SAN MARINO – In the trial for the so-called GalaxyCisbefore judge Isabella Pasini, the lawyers of Ugo Granata, Raffaele Mazzeo, Roberto Moretti, Alberto Buriani, Marino Grandoni and Marco Mularoni asked for the acquittal of their respective clients, contesting the lack of evidence on the existence of a criminal association and on the conscious participation of the accused. He gives a full account of it Antonio Fabbri on L’Informazione di San Marino.
The defense recalled previous acquittals and dismissals, contested some testimonies and recordings and raised questions relating to the statute of limitations and the compensation requests of the civil parties.
For Granata, the lawyers Giuseppe Gerbino And Massimiliano Rosti they contested that the relationships with Confuorti could demonstrate criminal responsibility. Rosti, also Mazzeo’s defender, underlined the absence of benefits and evidence of conscious adhesion to the hypothesized partnership. For Mazzeo, the fiscal prosecutor’s office requested his acquittal due to insufficient evidence.
The lawyers Paride Bugli And Livia Rossifor Moretti, recalled the final acquittal in the proceedings on the Leighton loan and contested the generic nature of the association accusation. Bugli also raised the issue of the statute of limitations, arguing that the deadline would have expired on September 28, 2026 in the absence of the contested aggravating circumstance and the suspensions invoked by the prosecution.
The lawyer Michela Vecchidefender of Buriani and Grandoni, contested the accusatory reconstruction, recalling previous acquittals, the reliability of some testimonies and the usability of recordings. It also asked for the rejection of the civil parties’ requests for compensation, including provisional compensation of almost 63 million euros. “A rejected thesis does not become true because it is repeated. It only becomes older,” he said.
For Marco Mularoni, the lawyers Roberto Brancaleoni And Federico Fabbri Ercolani they argued that professional activities and signatures on bank documents do not demonstrate participation in a criminal association. “There is no when, there is no with whom and there is no reason,” declared Brancaleoni, asking for absolution.
The next hearing is scheduled for November 5, with the defense’s final statements and the sentence expected on the same day.
