– We see great opportunities in Kangerlussuaq. In line with the development of defense policy, it is becoming an area of greater and greater importance – and at the same time it is an area with great tourist potential.
This is what former Sirius man Asbjørn Skjøth Bruun says, who together with his friend Jørn Martin Bank, who also has a past in the Sled Patrol Sirius, opened the company Arctic Expedition Supply Greenland ApS based in Kangerlussuaq in the spring.

The company offers land-based transport solutions with UTVs and drives anywhere it is allowed to drive in Qeqqata Kommunia.
Busy summer
– We have had a busy summer, where among other things we have driven for the defense and the Albatros Arctic Circle in the vicinity of Kangerlussuaq. In addition, we have run some test trips in collaboration with companies in Sisimiut along the ATW track.
Arctic Expedition Supply Greenland uses Polaris UTVs with heated cabins that can drive in most places – and during the summer they have transported tourists, soldiers and equipment in the area.
– But it is important to emphasize that we are not a tourism company. We are a logistics company that caters to other companies and not directly to tourists. We are a business to business company that offers transport solutions for professionals, and we have neither plans nor wishes to compete with the local companies, emphasizes Asbjørn Skjødt Bruun.
– Kangerlussuaq and the surrounding countryside make special demands on transport. Large distances, changing surfaces and terrain that can be difficult to access mean that traditional transport solutions are not always the best solution – and here UTV transport can be a flexible alternative because we can reach locations that cannot be reached by car or boat.

Ready for winter
Arctic Expedition Supply has had three employees in Kangerlussuaq over the summer – and now they are well underway preparing for the winter.
– We will drive in snow with belts on the UTVs in the coming winter, so we are not a seasonal company, but are prepared to work all year round.
The new company has also been well received by Qeqqata Kommunia.

– We have had good cooperation with the municipality during the start-up – among other things with land allocation. They can also see the possibilities – and they are very interested in permanent jobs in the area, says Asbjørn Skjødt Bruun.
– They have helped us a lot – and we have close cooperation with the municipality, which is also the land-use authority and has complete control over where we can and cannot drive. For me, there is no doubt that Qeqqata Kommunia will create development in Kangerlussuaq.
– We are very grateful for the reception, so now we focus on expanding the collaboration with local companies and organizations – both in Kangerlussuaq and Sisimiut. The goal is to create long-term collaborations and be a flexible transport partner when tasks have to be solved outside the traditional roads.
Initially, the focus is on Qeqqata Kommunia and the starting point in Kangerlussuaq. But the two former Sirius people have ambitions.
– As a natural extension of the increased focus on the Arctic and the need for overland transport, we are considering expanding the presence in the long term to also include East and North Greenland. We are also considering expanding with more and larger vehicles, says Asbjørn Skjødt Bruun.
