Naalakkersuisut forgives debts
Naalakkersuisut applied to Inatsisartut’s Finance and Tax Committee to forgive debts for citizens who have incurred debts due to errors in the Self-Government’s IT system. The application was approved by the committee on Saturday.
– As a citizen, you must be able to trust information from the public. That has not been the case here, and we regret that. Some citizens have been paid too much without having done anything wrong themselves, and that responsibility does not lie with the individual citizen, says naalakkersuisoq for finance, Aqqaluaq B. Egede (IA), on Saturday.
According to previous announcements, 7,521 citizens were faced with a total repayment claim of DKK 31.9 million in their audited annual statements.
However, it is not yet known what exact amount Naalakkersuisut has applied for from the finance committee. On Inatsisartut’s website, the application and its processing have not yet been published under the decisions of Inatsisartut’s Finance and Tax Committee.
