SAN MARINO – The State Congress has proposed the appointment of doctor Paolo Zuccarelli as the new commander of the Gendarmerie Corps, starting the process required by San Marino legislation. The decision is contained in the resolution approved on 13 October 2026 (below).
The measure comes after the general’s voluntary resignation Maurizio Faraonewhich the State Congress had taken note of in the same session.
The resolution also provides for the attribution of the military rank of one-star general to Zuccarelli, subject to completion of the required procedures and acknowledgment of the Military Congress.
The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs will have to prepare the process for submitting the nomination to the Great and General Council, after the passage to the Military Congress and the obligations established by law.
