– Greenland has shown that it is also a people who have lived here for many years through separate generations on the border of where it is possible to live.
Vivian Motzfeldt recognizes that it has long been a strategy to demilitarize the Arctic, but that it is a changing world that Greenland must adapt to.
The agreement states that the US will create bases in Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig, and she says that it is important to remember the local population, agriculture and the tourist industry in the areas where new bases will be established.
Vivian Motzfeldt ends by thanking the chairman of Naalakkersuisut, naalakkersuisoq for foreign affairs, the rest of Naalakkersuisut and Inatsisartut.
