The work of the sixth session of the Algerian-Senegalese Joint Committee for Cooperation began on Tuesday in Algiers, co-chaired by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, and his Senegalese counterpart, Sheikh Niang, in a step aimed at giving a new impetus to bilateral relations and strengthening the partnership between the two countries..
In his opening speech, Attaf stressed that holding the session is of special importance, as it comes nearly 30 years after the previous session was held in Dakar, stressing the need to move from recalling the historical balance of relations to employing it in building a more vibrant and sustainable partnership.
The head of Algerian diplomacy explained that the responsibility of the two countries is not limited to resuming meetings after this interruption, but rather includes building on common ties to launch a new phase of cooperation that better responds to the interests of Algeria and Senegal.
Attaf also reaffirmed the importance that Algeria attaches to its relations with Senegal, describing it as a brotherly country and an important partner in the West African region.
