Concordia has presented thirty amendments to the Pharmaceutical regulation bill with the aim of strengthening the healthcare role of pharmacies and improving the support of patients. One of the main proposals is the creation of the figure of the reference pharmacywhich each user could designate voluntarily.
The measure is designed especially for elderly people, with chronic diseases, polymedication, dependency or other situations that require more continuous monitoring. The choice could be revoked at any time and would not prevent you from going to any other pharmacy when necessary.
concord also proposes to recognize personalized pharmacotherapeutic monitoring as one of the healthcare functions of pharmacies. This would strengthen the detection of problems related to the inappropriate use of medicines, possible medication errors or adverse reactions.
Along these same lines, the group advocates that, when there is an authorized and clinically appropriate generic medicine, the pharmacist informs the user of the possibility of opting for it, as long as there are no clinical or safety reasons to advise against it.
The amendments also seek to improve coordination between pharmacies and other healthcare professionals, allowing their participation in information systems and care coordination, with respect to data protection regulations.
In addition, Concordia plans to expand the remote sale of medicines to mobile applications and other digital channels enabled by authorized pharmacies, and to make the collection of expired or unused medicines mandatory in all establishments.
In the professional field, the group proposes that the Government study the feasibility of implementing regulated training or a specific qualification for staff in the pharmaceutical sector.
In terms of ownership, concord maintains the limit of up to six establishments per company, but wants this possibility to be reserved for non-sole companies, with the aim of preventing the same person from being able to circumvent the individual limit of a pharmacy.
Finally, in the sanctioning area, it proposes to suspend the administrative proceedings when a criminal case is opened for the same facts, until there is a firm resolution through the court.
