SAN MARINO – 87 out of 105 candidates passed the test to verify knowledge of San Marino history and institutions, a mandatory requirement for submitting the naturalization application. The tests took place on Saturday 26 September and were corrected by the examining commission on 30 September.
The test consisted of 15 multiple choice questions and it was necessary to answer at least two thirds of the questions correctly. There was no shortage of perfect tests among the participants, with 15 out of 15 correct answers.
The questions ranged from the duration of the office of the Captains Regent to the subjects entitled to directly request the Guarantor Board to verify the constitutional legitimacy of a law. Among the most curious errors, some candidates have indicated Monte Titano as a gift from the emperor Diocletian, attributed to San Marino the acquisition in 1463 of the castles of Urbino, Pesaro and Gradara and indicated Ulysses Balsimelli as composer of the San Marino anthem.
Those who have not passed the test will be able to repeat it in the next session, scheduled for the end of November, approximately the 21st. The Department of Institutional and Internal Affairs is communicating the results directly to those interested.
“Seeing over one hundred people face this test with seriousness and preparation is a sign that encourages us,” declared the Secretary of State Andrea Belluzziunderlining how the new naturalization path was designed not to add an obstacle, but to strengthen knowledge of the history, institutions and values of the Republic.
