PARAMARIBO — During what the Suriname Police Corps (KPS) describes as “targeted surveillance meetings”, the Narcotics Brigade came across drugs that had been left unattended. According to the KPS, Friday’s inspection activities were specifically aimed at locations where narcotics are suspected of being traded, namely the Crommelinstraat, Lelydorp in the immediate vicinity of the former Golden Wings building and the Martin Luther Kingweg near ‘Post 1’.
When searching these three locations, according to the KPS, “a wide range of illegal substances” were found, which were seized. It involved 103 parcels sukru38 packages of cocaine, 34 packages of marijuana, 23 packages of ecstasy powder, 19 packages of hashish, nineteen ziplock bags of ecstasy pills and three tubes of ‘pikachu’.
The KPS emphasizes that tough action will be taken against drug crime. The Narcotics Brigade will therefore continue its surveillance and control work at hotspots unabated to guarantee public order and safety.
