Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau
MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – Belarusian wrestler Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau has reached the final of the European Wrestling Championships for the fourth time in his career, BelTA has learned.
The tournament is taking place in Tirana, Albania. The Belarusian freestyle wrestler reached the final in the up to 79kg category, defeating Rasul Shapiev from North Macedonia, Tariel Gaphrindashvili from Georgia and Dzhabrail Gadzhiev from Azerbaijan. On 25 April, Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau will compete for gold against Russia’s Akhmed Usmanov. Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau is the 2020 European champion and a silver medalist at the 2024, 2025 European Championships.
Two Belarusian wrestlers have advanced to bronze medal matches. On 25 April, Aryian Tiutrin (up to 57kg) and Islam Guseinov (up to 65kg) will compete for third place. George Koliev will wrestle in the repechage round in the up to 70kg category. Aliaksandr Hushtyn (up to 97kg) lost his quarterfinal match. The tournament in Tirana will conclude on 26 April.
