Haziri: The Law on Specialized Chambers must be voted before October 6

The organizer of the nightly protests in Pristina, Çlirim Haziri, has asked the Government of Kosovo that the Law on Specialized Chambers be processed and voted on in the Assembly before October 6. Haziri, who for 14 days has been organizing protests every evening from 21:00 in opposition to the decision of the Special Court against the former leaders of the KLA, said that the institutions must act and not prolong this process any further.
In an interview for Ekonomia Online, he singled out the participation of young people, saying that they are united in their attitude towards the KLA and opposition to the decision of the Special Court.
“The difference is that on the first day, the number of people was probably smaller. I also think that the special thing about this protest is that usually the protests at their beginnings are bigger, then the number of people who participate decreases. Whereas here in the protest for the Kosovo Liberation Army, even for the most glorious part of the history of Kosovo, the participation has not faded for 14 days, so the number of people is increasing”, he said.
He singled out the participation of the youth, saying that they are united and are expressing their opposition to the decision of the Special Court.
“The special feature of this protest is the youth, the youth of Kosovo, who are strong, united, united, and have a conviction that the Kosovo Liberation Army is the most glorious part of Kosovo’s history and needs the reaction of the youth. Even to testify and show their disagreement with a decision of a Special Court which turned out to be super special since the decisions it took were not based on facts and evidence, yes dictated decisions which severely hit the state of Kosovo”, said the organizer.
Speaking about his personal motive to be part of the protests, the organizer, who is the son of Xhav Haziri, one of the founders of the KLA, said that he grew up with the KLA and that he continues to experience the absence of his father and the pain of his sacrifice for the freedom of Kosovo even today.
He said that the decision of the Special Court, according to him, has also affected the families of the martyrs, so he considers that he cannot remain silent in the face of this situation.
“I have said before that I grew up with the KLA. Even today, after so many years, after the war, I continue to experience every day and every night the absence and the pain that the sacrifice for the freedom of Kosovo has caused. Even though the decision of the Special Court was normal for me, after that decision I think that we have been hit once again and the blood of our parents, the martyrs, has been punished. Therefore, we cannot remain silent in the face of such injustice”, he declared.
Haziri said that his family history and his father’s work have influenced him not to remain silent in the face of what he considers injustice.
“So I think that my figure and family history, the figure of my father, even though I don’t remember it, but only through photographs, but his work and the blood of the martyrs have influenced us not to be silent and we will not be silent until our demands are realized. Even to the end where we think that a day will come when the history and journey of the KLA will triumph in the face of a fabrication and in the face of a fabricated story in Serbia against our glory and our history against most glorious”, he said.
The organizer has asked the Government of Kosovo to act on the draft law to supplement and amend the Law on Specialized Chambers, stressing that the initiative has already passed from the Assembly to the Government.
“14 days have passed and I think that Kosovo’s institutions have spent day after day behind this decision thinking and making their own measurements since they came out politically. I think that we are not here waiting and thinking about political points. I think that this draft law, that is the law on Specialized Chambers, is in the government and I think that the government should react, it should send that law to the Parliament to the deputies”, he told Ekonomia Online.
According to Haziri, the initiative has already passed from the Assembly to the Government and the procedure for its consideration and voting in the Assembly must be followed.
“After the Assembly has sent it to the government, it is an administrative process that we must respect when we want, when Kosovo will change a law. So from the Assembly, the initiative has passed to the government and then from the government where it has been for a few days, since last Wednesday it is in the government. The law must be passed to the Assembly and put to a vote and then I think that all Albanians will vote for that law because this is not it, the KLA is not a political party. The KLA it belongs to the people, these MPs belong to the people, the people are demanding the voting of this law, and I think that everyone is in sync, they are on the same frequency as the people”, said the organizer.
He asked the Government to reflect and respond to the demands of the protesting citizens.
“Otherwise, the government considers that we are in a situation where there is a need to concentrate and act, to respond to the people’s demands. In this regard, I have never mentioned the prime minister or any other name for 14 days to single me out and demand and pressure me. But this cannot continue indefinitely,” he said.
Haziri said that the protesters have a specific request, the amendment of the Law on Specialized Chambers, while he demanded action from the Government and the Prime Minister.
“We are some citizens of Kosovo, in all the cities of Kosovo, in all the cities of Europe and here in Pristina for the night at 21:00 that we are asking for, we have one request: the change of this law that we consider affects the protection of our historical values. So in this case the prime minister and the government need to reflect, they need to react and act, by submitting the law to the Assembly. We consider that this is possible, every action is also necessary otherwise it will be unacceptable”, he declared.
Asked when the protests will end, the organizer said that they may change form even after the law is voted, as according to him, the purpose of the protesters is to express their dissatisfaction with the decision of the Special Court and to protect the values they consider important.
“I think that the protests will change form even after the law is voted, because we are not protesting against the institutions. We are protesting to express our loud and convincing dissatisfaction with a decision dictated, as I said earlier, by a super special court. So we will continue in the defense of our values and in the defense of the Kosovo Liberation Army”, he said.
Meanwhile, regarding the deadline, the organizer said that the law must be voted before the 6th, referring to the deadline for the election of the president of Kosovo.
“In any case, this law must be voted on before the 6th, if it is claimed that they even think that they took me until the 6th and then on the 6th, I said yesterday here in this square, they are doing what they know how to do best: take me to the election. I don’t think we have had the opportunity to be silent and patient in the face of these political games that they are capable of,” added the organizer.
