Coordinator Zerhouni submits the activities report and sets a road map for the next stage

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, confirmed that the level of development that Algeria is experiencing today requires the participation of its scholars wherever they are, allowing the country to rise to the status it deserves.
In his speech on the occasion of his reception, on Sunday, at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic, members of the Supreme Council of the National Scientific Community Abroad, the President of the Republic said: “It is a great honor for me to meet the elite of the elite in this country and in various fields,” stressing that
“The level of development in the country today requires the participation of Algerian scholars wherever they are, because we are moving to another stage with you, God willing.”
The President of the Republic pointed out that “the country is developing with its children and university graduates,” recalling that Algeria is “a very young country compared to Europe, where young people under the age of 40 constitute more than 70 percent of the population.”
The President of the Republic concluded his speech by saying: “What we plant today will have an impact that will extend for at least the next twenty or thirty years, allowing Algeria to rise to the status it deserves and to meet the aspirations of its people.”
In a related context, Professor Elias Zerhouni, Coordinator of the Council, praised the initiative of the President of the Republic to gather Algerian scientific competencies in order to involve them in the path of national development. On the occasion, he presented a report on the activities accompanied by a file highlighting the efforts made and setting a road map for the next 12 months.
During the meeting, Professor Zerhouni thanked the President of the Republic for this initiative, noting that the reactions were “very positive” at the Council level and among Algerian experts, scientists and engineers who wish to join it from all over the world.
In this regard, Zerhouni said, addressing the President of the Republic: “We discussed the matter, and I tell you frankly that the reactions were very positive, primarily at the Council level, but also among interested experts, scientists, and engineers from all over the world.”
He added, “I receive many messages from people who want to join this initiative that you launched,” also thanking the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for his support.
When referring to the progress of the works, he mentioned that following the launch of the initiative last June 28, the group decided not to wait for the issuance of the decree to meet and to hold an organizational meeting on August 4.
He stressed, “We live abroad, but we are not strangers. We are Algerians above all. We have all lived different professional paths, but we are part of this country and we want to contribute to its development.”
Professor Zerhouni then reviewed three principles that had been adopted, stressing that “no Council initiative can be launched in isolation from local colleagues or without bilateral cooperation with them,” stressing the necessity of “gathering the qualified national community residing abroad to form a larger group.”
Zerhouni also called for a spirit of responsibility regarding national priorities.
