The forest guard in Shtime was physically attacked during the intervention against illegal logging

A forest guard of the Regional Department of the Forestry Agency of Kosovo (APK) in Ferizaj was physically attacked while performing his official duty in the Municipality of Shtime.
According to the announcement of the APK, the case happened on September 18, 2026, in a state-owned forest, where the guard had intervened after finding a suspected case of illegal cutting of timber, reports Telegrafi.
During the on-site inspection, the forest guard encountered a suspected person carrying out illegal logging. According to APK, while undertaking actions within the framework of official powers, he was obstructed and physically attacked, suffering visible injuries.
The case was immediately reported to the Kosovo Police, which intervened and took the case into treatment.
The suspect has been identified and processed by the competent bodies, while the forest guard has also compiled a report on forest damage.
APK has announced that the event was documented with photographs, including the damage caused to the forest, the cut timber and the injuries suffered by the guard.
According to the Forestry Agency, this is the second case within a short period in the Ferizaj Region where forest guards have been attacked while on duty. Earlier, a similar case was registered in the Municipality of Ferizaj.
The Regional Department of the APK in Ferizaj has condemned any form of obstruction and attack on forest guards during the exercise of their duties.
“Attacks against officials in the field will not stop the commitment to the protection of forests and the prevention of illegal logging and transportation of timber,” the announcement states.
The department has announced that it will continue with the increase of presence in the field, patrols and controls, as well as cooperation with the Kosovo Police and other competent institutions.
