A teen is facing criminal charges after a driver came close to hitting cars, doing donuts in an antique Corvette in the middle of Kenmount Road.
Police got a complaint in the evening of Thursday, Sept. 17.
While officers did not catch the driver at the time, after an investigation, a 17-year-old has been charged with dangerous driving, ticketed for stunting and his licence has been suspended, according to a media release issued by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
The teenager is due to appear in court at a later date.
A video shows the car spinning around the busy, multi-lane road, as car brake suddenly, trying to avoid the Corvette.
It’s believed the driver was attending a car rally at a fast food restaurant on Kenmount Road, which has hosted the events in their parking lot for years.
“The RNC is working with the Newfoundland Antique and Classic Car Club and will have an increased presence at upcoming car gatherings to deter and detect unsafe driving and ensure public safety,” reads the police statement.
