The Algerian jewel has become the object of the ambitions of the largest European clubs
Spain’s Atletico Madrid has begun its moves to find out the terms of a contract with Algerian international Ibrahim Maza, the German star of Bayern Leverkusen, in light of the Spanish club’s readiness to enhance its attacking options during the coming period.
According to reports coming from Germany, reported by the “Vegajes” website, Madrid club officials opened channels of communication with representatives of the Algerian player, with the aim of finding out the possibility of completing the deal and the conditions required to obtain his services from the Bay Arena.
Information published by Win Win from the Spanish source indicates that Bayern Leverkusen will not be prepared to negotiate Mazza’s departure except in exchange for an official offer worth between 65 and 70 million euros, which puts Atletico in front of a high-cost deal from its early stages.
Ibrahim Mazza has been receiving interest from Atletico Madrid for some time thanks to the development of his level since his move to Bayern Leverkusen, as the 20-year-old player joined the German club in the summer of 2025 from Hertha Berlin for 12 million euros.
After he succeeded in establishing himself in the German League, the player’s market value rose to 45 million euros, according to the “Transfermarkt” website. He also played 21 matches with the first national team, scoring two goals, and participated with him last July in the World Cup in the United States of America.
This rapid development makes Mazza one of the names attracting the interest of a number of European clubs, at a time when Atletico Madrid is seeking to strengthen its attacking options with elements capable of occupying more than one position.
Despite the growing interest in the Algerian star and his high market value, Bayern Leverkusen is not considering selling the player in the near term, especially since Maza has a long-term contract with the German club that extends until June 30, 2030.
Accordingly, the club will not enter into negotiations regarding the player’s departure unless a very attractive offer arrives, approaching 65 or 70 million euros, with the possibility of the deal including variables related to performance and a percentage of any future sale.
This situation gives Bayern Leverkusen a strong position in the negotiations, as there is no need for the club to dispense with the player at the present time, while the clubs wishing to include him will have to submit high financial offers.
Atletico Madrid faces direct competition from Manchester City, which in turn entered into contacts with the player’s entourage, in addition to Arsenal and Manchester United’s interest in the Algerian player’s position.
Ibrahim Mazza attracts the interest of these clubs because of his ability to play in the playmaker position, in addition to the possibility of employing him in the midfield or on the flanks, which is the flexibility that Diego Simeone appreciates in the attacking elements.
On the other hand, Bayern Leverkusen’s financial strength gives the German club greater ability to adhere to its financial demands, which start at 65 million euros, which forces interested clubs to prepare to make big offers during the next summer transfer period.
It is expected that Atletico Madrid scouts will continue to monitor Ibrahim Maza’s performance during the German League matches and continental competitions between October and December 2026.
During this period, the Spanish club will focus on the player’s development and the continuity of his level, before making the final decision regarding moving to the official negotiations stage.
If Mazza continues his development at the current level, the Atletico Madrid management will consider submitting an official offer to Bayern Leverkusen after the end of the current season, in an attempt to finalize the deal and enhance the team’s offensive options.
