Wide agreement on paragraph 29 ter, relating to approval of the appointment of Paolo Pascucci as the new Magnificent Rector of the University of the Republic of San Marino for the three-year period 2026-2029.
Andrea Belluzziwho initially stepped in to replace the Secretary of Education Teodoro Lonferninirecalled the contribution of the outgoing Rector Corrado Petrocelli to the University’s accreditation process, indicating among the priorities of the new mandate the consolidation of the inclusion of the University of San Marino in the European higher education space and the development of the training offer.
Various comments of appreciation came from the council groups. Manuel Ciavatta (Pdcs) spoke of a figure of “great experience and high scientific value”. Nicola Renzi (Rf) agreed with the inclusion of the paragraph, however raising a reflection on the opportunity to maintain the passage of council approval in the future, in the name of university autonomy.
Giuseppe Maria Morganti (Libera) instead defended the role of the Chamber, defining the Council’s acknowledgment as a fundamental step. Fabio Righi (D-ML) invited the new Rector to strengthen the relationship between universities, innovation and the productive world.
Matteo Rossi (PSD) defined Corrado Petrocelli an “iconic figure” for the international projection of the University, while Denise Bronzetti (Ar) called for more attention to culture and higher education.
In closing, Teodoro Lonfernini he recognized that the passage on satisfaction had initially been overlooked in the preparation of the works, thanking the groups for allowing its inclusion. The Secretary also announced his intention to launch a public competition for the General Management of the University and indicated the “third mission” of the University as one of the strategic objectives of the new phase.
Approval of the appointment of Pascucci was approved unanimously.
