The Barbados Karting Association’s Sectus Technologies Championship returns to action on Sunday, September 20, with round five of the eight-round series at Bushy Park.
The event marks the end of a three-month break for local competitors, who return to domestic competition following last month’s Nations Cup Caribbean in Trinidad and Tobago.
Barbados finished second to the hosts at the Nations Cup, with 14-year-old Aeden Bruce emerging as the only driver to complete all six races. He recorded three podium finishes and three additional top-five results.
He was the most successful of the visiting drivers and second in the individual competition to Trinidad and Tobago’s Jonathan Sharam.
Bruce, the 2025 BKA 100cc champion, returns to local action looking to improve on his third-place standing in the Easykart 125cc category.
It is his first season in the class, where he faces more experienced competitors Aaron Blackett and former champion Jacob Mayers, who occupy first and second place respectively in the standings. Mayers, however, will miss the remainder of the season as he pursues his education overseas.
Also keen to better their current positions are Bruce’s fellow Nations Cup team members Jordyn Hinkson and Jaylan Priddee, who are second and third in the Easykart 100cc standings behind Jaydn Brathwaite.
Overall leader of the Champion Driver title chase, Edward Norris, leads the ever-competitive Easykart 60cc Cadets class, which has three drivers in the top six overall.
Second in the class and fourth overall is Ava Mayers, who in April became the first female karter in the BKA’s 40-year history to finish as the top points scorer in a round. Finn Cox is third in the class and fifth overall. (PR/KH)
