A 22-year-old La Romaine man was arrested after police found a firearm magazine in a vehicle and later seized several firearm-related items from his home in Marabella.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the man was arrested around 6 p.m. on Thursday during an intelligence-led exercise along the Southern Main Road, Marabella.
Officers of the Southern Division Task Force, WPC Skeete and PC Baldeo, stopped a silver Nissan B15 with the man as its lone occupant.
The officers searched the vehicle and found a Sig Sauer MPX firearm magazine under the seat.
The man, of Claude Street, La Romaine, was arrested and taken to the Marabella Police Station.
Police said further information received at the station led officers to search the man’s residence.
During that search, officers found an assortment of magazines, one round of 9mm ammunition, rifle scopes and a 9mm fast loader.
The items were seized and taken to the Marabella Police Station for processing.
The operation was coordinated by Snr Supt Hospedales, Supt Bertie, W/Supt Bridglal, ASP Pacheco, ASP Ramsarran, ASP Chulhan and Inspector Wilkinson.
