He elected vice mayor of the district of Panama, Roberto Ruiz Díaznotified this Monday, September 14, to the Municipal Council of his decision to end his unpaid leave and return to his elected position as of October 1.
In a note addressed to the president of the Municipal Council, Dorindo Vega, Ruiz Díaz reported that he is renouncing the remaining time of the license, which had been approved until February 1, 2027.
The leave was authorized by Resolution No. 07 of January 21, 2025. In his communication, Ruiz Díaz requested that the Board Commission issue the corresponding resolution to formalize his reinstatement and that this be communicated to the mayor of the district of Panama, Mayer Mizrachi, and to the Human Resources Directorate.
Ruiz Díaz also requested that the necessary steps be taken to assign the office of the vice mayor’s office and the corresponding support staff.
The document recalls that through Resolution RH-No. 1359-2024, of October 28, 2024, he had been assigned the functions corresponding to the position.
The communication was sent with a copy to Mayor Mayer Mizrachi and Mileyka Zambrano, from the Human Resources Directorate.
With his decision, Ruiz Díaz seeks to resume the functions of the vice mayor of the district of Panama as of October 1, once the administrative formalities requested from the Municipal Council are completed.
In the same note, the vice mayor made reference to article 356 of the Penal Code, related to the acts of officials.
