A group of armed men dressed in black, aboard a white van without license plateswould have forcibly subdued a social activist near the Yánez bridge in La Candelariain front of the Doral A building, in Caracas, according to the complaint spread by social and union sectors that participated in the protests called in front of Miraflores.
The victim was identified as Óscar Morales López, 56 years old, holder of identity card 12,037,954 and father of Itani Morales López, student leader of the Law School of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV).

The event occurs hours after Morales participated in a social protest held near Mirafloresin a context of growing tension between the government and union and student sectors that have intensified their calls for mobilization in recent weeks.
The disappearance adds to a series of similar complaints registered against protesters and union spokespersons in the midst of this climate of protest.
For the complainants, the case confirms that “the repressive apparatus and the nature with which Chavismo operates is intact”and warn that there is no real transition towards democracy as long as Venezuelans cannot live in peace, move freely and express their ideas without fear of reprisals.
