SkyShowtime has just released the first two episodes of the second season of the Polish thriller Deadly Ties. Like the previous one, this new episode consists of a total of six episodes that will be released weekly.
The series brings back the protagonists of the first season, the anthropologist Anka Serafin, played by Maria Debska, and the journalist Sebastian Strzygon, played by Maciej Musiał. This time, the action leaves the Tatra Mountains to move to the Silesia region, where the brutal murder of an architecture student sets off a particularly complex investigation.
The main element puzzling investigators is the manner in which the crime was committed. The modus operandi bears disturbing similarities to the murders attributed to Norman Pionek, a well-known serial killer nicknamed the Szombierki vampire. Pionek, played by Łukasz Simlat, is serving a sentence in prison, so the first suspicions point to the existence of an impersonator. The new clues, however, far from clarifying the case, multiply the questions.
The official investigation is led by Commissioner Kocur, played by Weronika Ksiazkiewicz. Sebastian Strzygon ends up getting involved while looking for a journalistic exclusive and drags Anka Serafin into the case. As the two delve deeper into the facts, the investigation leads them to secrets that have been hidden for years and makes it increasingly difficult to tell what’s real and what’s part of a web of deception.
The second season is the adaptation of the second volume of the series of crime novels by Małgorzata Fugiel-Kuzminska and Michał Kuzminski.
