one thirty Catalan students coming from twelve countries participate this week in the twenty-fifth edition of the Catalan Language University Campusan initiative that combines learning the language with knowledge of Andorra’s social, cultural and historical reality. The campus has as a seat Sant Julià de Lòriawhich welcomes the participants during their stay in the Principality.
The students, between 18 and 52 years oldthey attend Catalan language sessions and participate in activities to learn about Andorran heritage, culture and territory, as explained by the Government in a statement. The program includes visits to heritage sites, lectures on the country’s culture and excursions. The students have spent a week a Gironawhere they also attended classes, before arriving in Andorra.
The participants were received this morning in the commune of Sant Julià de Lòria by the Minister of Health, Helena Masand by the Lauredian consuls Cerni Cairat and Sofia Cortesao. The students come from from Canada, Japan, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Poland, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Russia, the Netherlands, and Slovakia. Helena Mas highlighted the campus as a tool for international projection of the Catalan language and one space for cultural exchange which contributes to strengthening the ties between the participants and Andorra.

Cerni Cairat welcomed the students and expressed the desire that this first contact with the parish allowed them to learn about its heritage and the welcoming and open character of the territory.
The Catalan Language University Campus is aimed at university students of Catalan from all over the world and combines each year an academic part with cultural activities between Catalonia and Andorra. The initiative was born in 2002 with the support of governments of Andorra and the Balearic Islandsand since 2003 it has been co-organized by the Ramon Llull Institute and the Government of Andorra.
