Police are investigating the theft of 28 car batteries from a man who was robbed at gunpoint and forced to drive to another area on Monday afternoon.
Police said the man was driving his Nissan Y12 AD Wagon near the Eastern Main Road and Churchill-Roosevelt Highway Link Road, El Socorro, around 1 pm when he encountered slow-moving traffic.
While he waited in traffic, a gunman approached the vehicle and opened the backseat door, while another bandit opened the front passenger door.
The men ordered the victim to drive to Harmony Lane, Second Caledonia, Morvant.
Two other bandits approached the vehicle there and stole 28 car batteries valued at $24,375, along with two cellphones, a gold chain, a gold ring and $1,600 cash.
The victim also reported that one of the bandits pistol-whipped him.
He subsequently made a report to police, and officers of the Morvant Police Station are continuing enquiries.
