The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is preparing to distribute the keys to 215 newly constructed homes and apartment units as part of its continued push to expand access to safe and climate-resilient housing.
Housing Minister Melissa Poponne-Skerrit announced the upcoming handovers, with the first of several “Welcome Home” ceremonies scheduled to begin this Friday.
The new housing units are located in Canefield East, Trafalgar, Vieille Case, Paix Bouche, Pointe Michel, Grand Bay, Penville, Wesley and
Woodford Hill.
The initiative is being advanced under the Government’s broader housing programme, which seeks to provide families with
durable homes better equipped to withstand extreme weather.
Promoted under the themes “Building Homes, Strengthening Communities and Transforming Lives,” the programme forms part of Dominica’s wider target of delivering 5,000 resilient homes in support of the country’s long-term recovery and climate-resilience goals.
