MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) – Belarusian tennis player Iryna Shymanovich has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Open de Rouen tournament in France, with a prize fund of $283,000, BelTA has learned.
In the second round, the Belarusian world No. 184 battled past world No. 35 Hailey Baptiste of the USA in a three-setter – 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. The match lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes. In the quarterfinals, Shymanovich will face Germany’s Tatjana Maria (world No. 63). Iryna Shymanovich earned her place in the main draw of this tournament through qualifying. In the Round of 32, she defeated Czech Linda Fruhvirtova (world No. 143) in two sets – 6-3, 7-5.
At the ATP Challenger men’s tournament in Oeiras, Portugal, with a prize fund of $203,000, Belarus’ Ivan Liutarevich and Poland’s Filip Pieczonka defeated the Swiss-Czech duo of Jakub Paul and Matěj Vocel in the Round of 16 of the doubles draw – 4-6, 6-2, 11-9. In the quarterfinals, they will face the Portuguese pair of Gastão Elias and Frederico Ferreira Silva.
In the second round of the 2026 Busan Open in South Korea, with a prize fund of $225,000, Belarusian Ilya Ivashka (world No. 683) lost to Liam Broady of the UK (No. 250) – 1-6, 3-6. At the start of the tournament, Ivashka defeated Australia’s Dane Sweeny in a three-set thriller lasting 3.5 hours – 7-6 (7-1), 6-7 (4-7), 6-2.
