BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 20. Kazakhstan plans
to establish production of humanoid robots as part of a new project
combining robotics, AI and industrial manufacturing.
This was announced in a report published by the Kazakh Ministry
of Science and Higher Education.
According to the Ministry, the project was presented at the
Qazbot Robotics Forum in Astana and will be implemented jointly
with China’s technology company AgiBot.
The report notes that the partnership envisages localizing
technologies in Kazakhstan, developing engineering expertise,
conducting research, and training specialists.
“Our task is not limited to introducing ready-made technological
solutions, but to develop Kazakhstan’s own engineering and
scientific competencies. The production of humanoid robots should
become a platform bringing universities, scientists and industry
together into a single technological chain. This means a full cycle
– from training specialists and conducting research to developing
technological solutions and applying them in industry. This is the
model of integrating education, science and production that we
intend to scale up,” Minister of Science and Higher Education
Sayasat Nurbek said.
Kazakhstan is also developing a talent base for the emerging
technology sector. Local universities currently offer 56
educational programs in robotics, mechatronics, industrial
automation, intelligent systems and artificial intelligence.
Cooperation between Kazakh universities and AgiBot will be
another key area of the project. It will involve scientists,
lecturers and students in research on humanoid robotics and AI, the
training of specialized personnel and the adaptation of advanced
robotic solutions to the needs of Kazakhstan’s industrial
sector.
The Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence
(ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University has also joined the initiative as
a research and systems integration partner for developing expertise
in humanoid robotics.
During the forum, Nurbek met with representatives of QAZBOT and
AgiBot. The parties discussed training engineers for the new
technology sector, establishing specialized laboratories,
conducting joint research, and involving students and scientists in
humanoid robotics projects.
