Jamaica continues to consolidate its position as one of the Caribbean’s most important tourism destinations. The latest available visitor profile data from the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) highlights the relevance of female travellers within key international markets. In 2024, women represented 54.7 per cent of visitors from Canada, one of Jamaica’s leading source markets, with 218,622 female travellers, compared to 181,211 male travellers. The data also shows that Canadian visitors primarily stayed in tourist areas such as Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and Negril.
Mozio, a global ground transportation booking platform, surveyed 1,006 international travelers (49 per cent women) to better understand what causes the most anxiety after arriving at their destination. The report found that 34 per cent of women are concerned about their personal safety, while 44 per cent said they worry about becoming victims of scams. In addition, 16 per cent reported having experienced a panic attack while travelling, demonstrating that travel-related stress can also have physical consequences.
