More than 300 riders from across the Caribbean and beyond are expected to descend on Dominica this weekend for the third annual Dominica Bike Festival.
Running from July 31 to August 3, a Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) press release said that the festival will feature drag racing, stunt exhibitions, bike showcases, entertainment and an island-wide ride.
The DDA noted that the event continues to grow, following last year’s festival, which attracted 233 visiting riders, 470 local riders and nearly 5,000 spectators over two days at Canefield Airport. This year, participants are expected from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Brazil, Curaçao, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and the United States.
International stunt riders and online personalities, including Vinicius Moffati of Brazil, Lil E of St. Maarten, Miami Skeet of the United States and automotive influencer Nick Lue, are also expected to attend, helping showcase the festival to millions of followers worldwide.
Friday’s free opening event takes place along Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a meet-and-greet at The Lot Bar and Grill. Racing events will be held at Canefield Airport on Saturday, while Sunday will focus on stunt riding and skill competitions.
The festival wraps up on Monday with an island tour beginning at the Bayfront Cruise Ship Berth and stopping at several communities before ending at Le Village Beach Club.
DDA Chief Executive Officer Marva Williams said, “The growth from 233 visiting riders last year to more than 300 expected this year shows increasing regional and international interest in the Dominica Bike Festival. Importantly, that growth translates into additional visitors staying in our accommodations, dining at our restaurants, using local transportation and exploring the island during their time in Dominica.”
Organizers said safety measures will be coordinated with the police, fire and emergency services, and participants are expected to follow all event guidelines.
The four-day event is organized by 767 Bike Life with support from the Ministry of Tourism and the DDA.
