He General Corps of Volunteer Firefighters of Peru (CGBVP) confirmed that he will not participate in the Military Civic Parade by National Holidays scheduled for next July 29 after the alleged willingness of the organizers to restrict its attendance to a single battalion.
The institution, which commemorates 165 years of its founding, maintained in a statement that this change violates its historical tradition, since the deployment usually contemplated three battalions composed of personnel from Lima, Callao and various provinceswho came with their own financing.
“The organizers have decided to limit our participation to a single battalion, when historically we have paraded with three battalions made up of troops from Lima, Callao and the provinces, who mobilize with their own resources”they wrote.
According to the entity, this restriction would have limited access to a single company, affecting nearly 300 volunteer troops who prepared for six weeks.
“This decision, which we consider unfair and contrary to our institutional tradition, affects the image of the CGBVP and ignores the role we have played in national life,” they held.
