The Council of the European Union approved this Thursday the Association Agreement with Andorra and San Marino and has authorized its signature, after the Coreper determined on Wednesday the mixed character of the text. The process will predictably begin during the second half of September or early October, first with the signature of the 27 member states and later with the of Andorra, San Marino and the European Commission.
Once signed, the document must receive the approval of the European Parliament and of the twenty-seven parliaments, which can only accept or reject it. A Andorrathe Government will call the consultative referendum after the approval of the Eurochamber and, in case of a favorable result, the text will pass to the General Councilwhere it will need a qualified majority of two thirds to be ratified.
