A rare debate within the Democratic Party has forced the temporary interruption of the meeting of the National Council, while the live broadcast from the blue headquarters was interrupted for a few moments.
The reason for the clash was a claim made by the member of the National Council, Ilirjana Kuçana, who asked to discuss a resolution that, according to her, had been submitted 24 hours before the meeting, in accordance with the provisions of the Democratic Party’s charter.
The President of the National Council, Julia Emiri, replied to Kučana that the meeting had an approved agenda and that the resolution presented by her could not be included for discussion in that session.
The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, also intervened in the debate, who reminded Kučana of the provisions of the statute, arguing that her request was not allowed according to the party’s rules.
The clash between the two continued for several moments. In an instant, Berisha addressed Kučana with the words: “We cannot write the statute here.”
Kuçana continued to oppose Berisha’s arguments, but at that moment there was no microphone, so her reaction was not heard on the broadcast.
Just a few seconds later, the headquarters of the Democratic Party cut off the live broadcast signal from the meeting, while the session was temporarily suspended.
