Invited this Monday to Now with Erla Mëhilli, Euronews journalist Eni Ferati revealed the behind-the-scenes of the coordinated attacks on businesses in Albania, revealing that initially the police suspected that Iran was behind them, due to the cyber attacks of recent years.
According to Ferati, the police intelligence has provided data from Telegram, where certain individuals who took the role of protagonists within the protest went from calls for boycott to those for complete sabotage, planning extreme scenarios to block the path of the singer Kanye West and to stop at all costs the participation of Albanians and foreigners in his concert.
The journalist pointed out that in these groups there were open and documented calls to virtually attack various businesses, especially targeting influencers who did marketing.
“It has happened that in these reports, certain businessmen, who are not only in the field of tourism and in the field of business services, restaurants, hotels, there are reports even from private hospital structures that have also felt themselves attacked by these reviews, which are not that we are saying they come from accounts that are not verifiable or are robotic.
Initially, from the truth, when the first reports were administered, the police actually suspected that this attack came from Iran, considering the cyber attacks of this nature that during the last years Albania has been under the scrutiny of Iranian structures. But from the investigations afterwards and the reports that were administered, it turned out that it was not about such a situation, but it was about, in short, it was not the Iranians, but the flamingos that were attacking the business.
The police have their own systems, their way of operating, investigating and so on, where it has resulted that in some communication channels, that apparently the police through its structures have managed to provide information, it has resulted that with the Kanye West concert, there were communications from certain organizers or characters, not all of them we must emphasize, from certain individuals within the protest who took the role of the protagonist, who called for it to be sabotaged, not boycotted.
There have even been calls on Telegram channels that I have seen, and some have even been made public, to block the singer’s path, to have various situations, to not allow either Albanians or foreigners to go to the concert. And in these channels, the police have also administered data that certain individuals have called for these businesses to be attacked, mainly not only individuals who probably do advertising or marketing, the influencers in this case, in the prime minister’s business field, but also other certain individuals”, said Ferati.
