THE Department of Rural Development, under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, Yangon Region, Kyauktan District, conducted a field inspection yesterday of the completed concrete road construction project implemented using 50 per cent of the interest income from the Mya Sein Yaung Village Project in Pantawchaung Village, Khayan Township.
Khayan Township Department of Rural Development Head Daw Htar Htar Naing, the project officer and engineering staff inspected the completed concrete road construction work. She met project committee members and villagers, discussed the need to collectively maintain the completed concrete road for long-term sustainability, and inspected whether the monthly Mya Sein Yaung Village Project financial record forms had been properly and accurately maintained.
Pantawchaung Village is implementing village development activities using K16.2 million from the Mya Sein Yaung Village Project interest funds and K2 million contributed by the public. With technical assistance and close supervision from officials of the Township Department of Rural Development, the construction of a concrete road measuring 500 feet long, seven feet wide and six inches thick was carried out by local villagers themselves starting from the second week of May this year, and has now been completed 100 per cent. — Maung Khaing (Rural)
