Former finance minister Karen Nunez-Tesheira is recovering after suffering a medical episode while appearing live on television on Thursday morning.
Nunez-Tesheira was a guest on Conversations with Zelisa on Real TV when the medical emergency occurred at the station’s San Juan studios shortly after 10.20 a.m.
Host and Executive Producer of Conversations with Zelisa, and CEO of Real TV, Zelisa Boodoosingh had just asked Nunez-Tesheira about her role as a woman in Parliament when she began answering, fell silent and slumped back in her chair. Boodoosingh immediately called for a commercial break as staff rushed to assist.
Speaking with Guardian Media, Boodoosingh confirmed the incident.
She said when she realised how long it would take for the ambulance to arrive, she and her staff took the former minister to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.
She said Nunez-Tesheira was initially unresponsive but soon regained consciousness.
Boodoosingh said she accompanied Nunez-Tesheira to the hospital herself. She had just left her with her relatives.
This is a developing story
