
Lal Gul Kochi, a farmer of Ghiratabad area of Pul Alam city, said that the drip irrigation system is an important reason for the increase in yield and said that in the past he used to get about 900 maunds of watermelons from one acre of land, but this year he expects this amount to reach nearly 2000 maunds.
He asked the relevant agencies to provide more facilities for the marketing of agricultural products.
At the same time, Engineer of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Department of Logar Naseeruddin Bahij told Bakhtar News Agency that watermelons have been planted on about 2,500 hectares of land in the entire province this year, which has increased by 25 percent compared to last year.
According to him, the interest of farmers, the use of drip irrigation system, proper market and economic benefit are the main factors for the expansion of Karkila.
He added that compared to last year, there has been a significant increase in the yield of watermelons.
It is worth mentioning that last year nearly 15 thousand 500 metric tons of watermelons were obtained from the cultivated land in Logar province.
