All passengers on board a plane that was supposed to go up with paratroopers have died in a plane crash on Sunday.
11 people have diedafter a civilian plane crashed near the eastern French town of Tomblaine on Sunday.
This is reported by local authorities according to the French news agency AFP.
According to local media, the plane was allegedly on its way up with a group of people who were going to jump with a parachute.
The news agency Reuters writes that it is a plane owned by a skydiving school.
All passengers on board are dead. There is a pilot, five instructors and five students, says prefect Yves Seguy, who represents the authorities in the area.
The French interior minister has stated that he is on his way to the scene, writes Reuters.
In a post on the social media X, the prefect of Meurthe-et-Moselle writes that he himself is present at the scene and has decided to activate the operational center to investigate the event.
It is also stated that the plane took off from the airfield at Nancy-Essey.
According to a journalist from the French news agency AFP, the plane crashed on a grassy area near the runway. There are no bystanders among the dead.
Crisis psychologists and health personnel took care of the relatives who were present at the airfield, as well as other witnesses to the accident.
The cause of the accident has not yet been clarified. The local police urge all unauthorized persons to stay away from the area.
