The head of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, has reacted regarding the coffin that was brought by some protesters during the 35th day of the protest in Tirana.
After publishing images from the protest on social networks, Balla claims that the people who brought the coffin are supporters of the Democratic Party in Durrës, as well as a faction within this political force.
In his reaction, he recalls an event from 28 years ago, saying that Sali Berisha had brought Azem Hajdari’s coffin to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Balla says that mocking the shroud is not compatible with Albanian customs or religious traditions, be they Islamic or Christian. He adds that he would give an answer to Sali Berisha, but, according to him, this is not allowed by Albanian and religious customs.
“The people who brought a coffin to the boulevard were supporters of the Durrës Democratic Party (also of a faction within it).
Sali Berisha did this shameful act 28 years ago with the coffin of the late Azem Hajdari. Mocking the shroud, in the sense of mocking a symbol associated with death and burial, does not comply with Albanian customs, as well as religious ones, whether Islamic or Christian.
I would give you an answer, Sali, but Albanian and religious customs do not allow me”, writes Balla.
