A working stay in the Greenlandic healthcare system triggers a so-called relay bonus. Now the details are in place.
The terms of the agreement, which will give more Danish nurses the desire to pull the trigger in Greenland for a period, have fallen into place.
This is stated by the Danish Nursing Council on Thursday in a press release.
A working stay in the Greenlandic healthcare system triggers a so-called relay bonus.
It consists, among other things, in the fact that, in addition to salary and pension, 15 percent of the fixed salary is paid into pension.
The nurse can also choose to be paid the 15 percent as a one-off supplement when the person has finished the stay.
According to DR, this will mean DKK 5,900 per month for a nurse with eight years’ experience.
In addition, there are some general conditions that apply broadly to healthcare personnel, according to the Danish Nursing Council.
Among other things, a paid accommodation is made available in Greenland, and then the return flight ticket is paid for.
– If you are interested in coming to Greenland and working, I would recommend that you contact your trade union representative or manager and find out what the possibilities are.
– Now it has at least become more attractive to leave, says the spokesperson for the Danish Nursing Council, Dorthe Boe Danbjørg, in the press release.
The initiative for the relay agreement came from the Greenlandic healthcare system, which is particularly short of nurses for the emergency, intensive care and cancer wards.
The forewoman of the Greenlandic nursing organization PK, Navarana Johansen, welcomes the agreement, which “will help to solve an urgent need”.
But she also adds to the Danish Nursing Council that she has “difficulty assessing whether it is a solution that solves the long-term challenges”.
The Danish Nursing Council agrees with this.
– There is a need for long-term and durable solutions that ensure the necessary health personnel for all citizens of the Commonwealth, says Dorthe Boe Danbjørg.
The agreement is valid until the end of 2029.
While the Greenlandic health service and Danish Regions have made the political agreement, the Danish Nursing Council together with Danish Regions have negotiated the terms in place.
