Two trains collided head-on on the railway line between Hillerød and Kagerup in North Zealand on Wednesday. 17 people were injured in the accident, four of whom are in critical condition, according to the Danish news agency Ritzau.
The collision occurred at a railway crossing. The head of operations told broadcaster TV2 that the trains had obviously collided at a relatively high speed. According to authorities, no one was trapped. Numerous ambulances and a large police presence were deployed on site.
The affected route will remain closed for a longer period of time. The exact cause of the accident is still unclear and is under investigation.
