Nikos Anastasiadis has decided to distance himself from the collective bodies of the Democratic Alert, in the wake of the Anti-Corruption Authority’s findings on the Mafia State. THE former President of the Republic and honorary president of DISY, told the Reporter that he has already informed party president Annita Dimitriou on the matter.
A little later, he made a written statement in which he states:
“Today I contacted the President of the Democratic Alarm, Ms. Annita Dimitriou, to whom I expressed my intention to abstain from the sessions of the collective bodies of the party, until the truth about what is attributed to me shines.
I will not allow anyone to believe that they can harm the party, which I co-founded and served faithfully for the last 50 years.”
Invited by the Reporter to comment on positions of DISY executives, among them that of Dimitris DimitriouNikos Anastasiadis emphasized that he himself does not wish to participate. As he said, his decision was made out of love for the party he served for 46 years. “Because I do not accept that anyone should be allowed to make use of the findings of a committee that assigns potential offenses,” he added. He also pointed out that he will not return to anyone “using any pending cases, any findings of the committee against me for allegedly committing criminal offenses to attack the party or to cause any damage to the faction”.
It is recalled that in his intervention on the Legal Matters podcast yesterday, the parliamentary representative of Democratic Alarm, Dimitris Dimitriou, argued that Nikos Anastasiadis should distance himself from the collective bodies of the party, as was done in the cases of Phaedon Phaedonos and Nikos Sykas. He even suggested as an ideal scenario the voluntary abstention of the former PtD, as it eventually happened.
