In the digital world, Split is too often reduced to a tourist postcard: Diocletian’s Palace, Riva and sun-drenched beaches. Marin Grkovic decided to scratch deeper below that surface layer. Better known as Seventh Heaven, this 22-year-old from Split and student of Zagreb University of Applied Sciences has built a recognizable format based on urban exploration and adventure through social networks.
Its content, among which the series “Kvart piče grada Splita” is particularly noteworthy, brings a different perspective on well-known locations and stories from everyday life, and it was this approach that earned him the Slobodna Dalmacija award for influencer of the year. Its success lies in a format that defies the classic template of social networks – it explores Split through people, neighborhoods, hidden details and stories. He proved that the audience craves authenticity the most. From seemingly ordinary, familiar locations, he creates formats that give the viewer a new perspective. On this occasion, we talked to Marin, who revealed to us how the whole story actually began:
– It was not my goal to create an influencer profile, I publish things that are interesting to me and by chance a few videos exploded. It really started spontaneously, out of love. I’m happy that my hard work, all the hours of filming and editing have been recognized. We are witnessing the hyperinflation of videos on social networks that take people’s attention away from important things.
– I shoot educational content that is different from what most people think influencers do. I’m not a fan of the title of influencer because it’s associated with something that makes people roll their eyes, but I think that something authentic, original, inspiring can be created under that title. I love what I do and I think that what I create is of good quality, that is enough for me. Always, no matter what, my family is there, they are really a great support, he concluded.
