The final date is scheduled for January 2028. From that moment on, the production of physical discs for all new games released for PlayStation consoles will end.

This was announced by Sid Shuman, SIE Content Communications, in the company blog. The main argument points to the fact that users’ preference is towards digital versions.
“This is a natural direction for Sony Interactive Entertainment to adapt to consumer trends as their overall preference for digital media significantly outpaces physical discs,” he says in the post.
In addition, from January 2028 the new games will be available on the PlayStation Store and in stores only in digital format.
