Tonight, the football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina is playing probably the most important game in its history so far, where it will meet the United States of America in the round of 16 of the World Cup after we finished third in the group that also included Canada, Switzerland and Qatar.
At the same time, this is only the second appearance for our national team at the World Cup, but also the second chance to place among the 16 best in the world. The historic success is accompanied by unprecedented celebration and euphoria on the streets of the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, where from the early hours of the morning you can feel impatience, anticipation and hope that we can overcome an opponent such as the US national team.
On this occasion, we asked the citizens of Sarajevo what they expect from tonight’s game, and the answers did not disappoint us.
– I expect victory and passage, it will be difficult, it will be uncertain. After all, who cares what others think of us. I think the time has come for us to change this “mindset” of ours, both in terms of sports and daily politics. We will win on penalties, one gentleman told us.
Another fellow citizen, as she told Oslobodjenje.ba, believes that the BiH national team has achieved excellent results so far and that expectations remain high.
– And if we don’t win, they are winners for me, she added.
The match will be played at 5 pm local time, and at 2 am our time.
