A Poipet salon owner has been arrested after a shocking attack on an employee.
On Friday afternoon, the Poipet city military police arrested Kum Lyka, alias Kaka, 30, the owner of the “Kaka Salon” shop located in Balilay 1 village, Poipet commune, Poipet city, Banteay Meanchey province.
She is accused of a series of attacks on Ut Khon, 59, her cleaner for three years, from Phrath Thammalekh village, Phsar Kandal commune, Poipet city.
After receiving a complaint from the victim, Lieutenant Colonel Tel Tailiv, Commander of the Poipet city military police, went to the scene and investigated on Sunday, arrested the suspect, and seized evidence, including a 30-centimetre-long wooden handled knife.
Lt Col Tailiv said that the incident occurred after the victim sold several phones that Lyka thought belonged to her husband.
When Lyka found out about this, she hit the victim with a wooden stick, causing several wounds. She also took a machete and threatened the victim with it, and then imprisoned her.
Kohn managed to escape and went to her sister’s house in District 4 to treat her injuries and filed a complaint at the city’s military police headquarters.
Lt Col Tailiv said that after being arrested and questioned, the suspect confessed that she had indeed committed the acts of violence as alleged by the victim. She stated that she was angry that Kohn had taken the phones and sold them for money.
Based on the confession and evidence, a case is being prepared for further legal proceedings.
