The Government of National Unity has suspended all procedures related to the allocation, ownership, or use of state-owned agricultural land.
Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Mohamed Ben Ghalboun said the decision would remain in place until the issue is reviewed by the Cabinet in line with existing legislation.
The move follows disputes among residents over the distribution of farmland in the Khadra area of Tarhuna, as well as concerns that parts of the land belong to educational and research institutions.
Ben Ghalboun has instructed the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Agricultural and Livestock Projects Development and Investment Authority to prepare a detailed report outlining the legal basis of the measures taken, the authorities that approved them, and any beneficiaries involved.
He added that the government would take necessary steps to protect public funds, safeguard state assets, and ensure proper management of land in accordance with the law.
